Carpenter is also in our squadron. He attended RCLS as well this year.

WINDY night and a well dressed boy
She tried to go to sleep, got up not too much later, tried to sleep in our bed (which NEVER happens!) but couldn't cuz daddy's snoring was worse than the wind, so she ended up on the sofa around midnight. She stayed there till about 4am she said. (wish she would have woken me up since I was on another sofa keeping her 'company'.)
Christian hadn't had me take his "dress blues" picture in quite some time so after last week's meeting he asked me to before he took it all off. Current rank: Cadet Chief Master Sergeant, title at the squadron is 1st Sergeant. The red cord indicates that he is a member of the Cadet Advisory Committee.

Halloween Party at Civil Air Patrol
The grill for burgers and dogs wouldn't start in the hurricane-force winds (and thankfully light rain) so they all huddled around it to see if that would help. It didn't... Thankfully I brought sloppyjoes. Plus they microed the dogs.
It was a contest!
1st place went to 'Hick' (red plaid and straw hat)
2nd place went to 'Dr. Who' (blue suit jacket)
3rd place went to 'Secret Service Agent' (black suit)
Sorry Christian, 'painter' isn't original enough... maybe next year... LOL!
The whole gang. The group is growing!! 5 of these boys are new within the last couple weeks. I hope they stay!

NESA, Deck and a couple cute girls :)
NESA is National Emergency Services Academy. It's held at Camp Atterbury each summer, so Christian was down there 2x, and home only for a week between NESA and Encampment. Fist picture is drop-off day and the rest are graduation.
They are proudly displaying their awards for "Honor Team"!!!!
Thankx sooooooo much to my brother Dan for building our back deck!!! He build a smaller deck for our front several years ago, but we'd never gotten around to getting a back deck built. We've only been here for 18y...
Why do kids always suddenly get goofy when they're about have their picture taken? LOL!

They got his rank wrong tho, he's actually C/MSgt now.
He looks happy! So nice to see!! I'm glad they post pictures for the families to know their kids are safe/having fun.

More tests plus Christian's arrival at Encampment
He was hot standing there in the doorway waiting for the line to move up some LOL!
He said he was not nervous at all thinking about going this year :) He even said he got a good night's sleep! Probably since he's now been in CAP a little over a year and has been on other overnight events.

Christian's first O-Ride with C.A.P.
Oh my! He was excited and nervous. Finally, he got to go on an Orientation Ride. He'd been bumped for some or other reason a few times already so he'd been pumped to go a few other times and was denied. So, finally getting to go was awesome!
You can see him going through the checklist with the pilot, going around the plane, looking on the top of the plane, then finally getting in, belting up, putting on the headphones, taxiing and taking off.
True to his luck tho there was a huge storm rolling in and his flight was only 1/2h instead of the proposed 1 1/2h... into Michigan even and trading places with the back seat cadet. But, he got to go and that is the important thing :) AND... he got to steer!! The back seat cadet had never been 'in line' even so he got to go up his first try, eventho it was a short flight.
