Bathroom remodels, Jan '18

Upstairs, which was the WORST!! We hadn't been able to shower in there for a while now. It leaked water behind the tile and dripped into the ceiling of the kitchen below.

BEFORE:

I decided to tile the whole shower 'stall' area because of the slope and smallness of the bathroom. Better for the amount of steam. We got a new vent and found it was NOT VENTING OUTSIDE at all! It wasn't even hooked up properly! No wonder steam was SUCH an issue!!! Now, it's great. With the shelf over the door and the new shelving/bins over the toilet I decided to go with a pedestal and surround rack. There is great storage due to those things, as well as the new medicine cabinet. The old lighting was a death trap. We feel much safer with the new lighting. The shower wasn't even a real shower, just a leaking hose off the spigot. Now there is a real shower. LOVE.

This is the kids' bathroom, so I let Sophie choose the coloring. I'm not personally a fan of gray, but she is. There is even new flooring in there. Tile all around for easy cleaning.

AFTER:

Downstairs Main Bathroom
Previous to doing our siding last spring there was a full sized window there. We switched it to a smaller one so we don't need to cover it. We left the flooring because it goes out into the laundry hall and we just couldn't replace all that at this time.

BEFORE:

AFTER
The only things we did not replace were the vanity (we got a new sink top though) and the mirrored medicine cabinet. The new cabinet over the toilet may be a tad shorter, but it's deeper. The shower was a proper shower even when it was a tub, but he moved it a bit higher. LOVE the totally sealed up window!!!!! The tile in the shower goes to the ceiling, but is not on the ceiling like upstairs. We kept the old vent, it was doing an ok job considering the smallness of the room. I realize I didn't get any pics behind the door. It's a plain wall, nothing on it at all except new tan paint like the rest of the room.

Paint, snow and some slippersocks

Wow!!!  The livingroom is finally painted!!  I can put up junk on the walls now :)

We paid Rick to do it. Look, he can talk on the phone while he paints... LOL!

Tom painted the laundry room area. We obviously still need to put in the new trim there.
We've had a little snow lately...

It's a miracle! I made myself something! There are a couple changes I'd make if I ever made them again... but I don't think I ever will since I'm not totally in love with the pattern. But, they're cute and they help keep my feet warm :)

Kitchen update thus far as of New Year's Day 2015

The Christmas vacation project for Tom this year was the kitchen trim. YAY!!  We're nearly done with the kitchen. You'll see some white spots here and there. Stapling the trim up dislodged some drywall here and there so he spackled the bad parts and when it dries we'll do final paint touch-ups.  You'll also see the tile backsplash done!!!! Thanks to my brother Rick. Sorry, the pics with him were taken with my chromebook, the rest were with the real camera.  Now, all that's left is the final paint touch-ups and for me to make the curtains!! And, some more red touches here and there :)

The trim that was around the door looked fake. It was real wood but obviously painted way after the original trim in the livingroom and looked nothing like it. So, we (well... I...) decided we needed new door trim too since we (well... Tom...) were doing the floor trim. LOVE! You'll see with the shot of the doorway (with original trim still up) going in to the livingroom it doesn't completely match but it's about as close as we could come and I think it looks great.

Sophie didn't really want her picture taken, hair not done and all... sorry dear, it's the 1st day of school. I HAVE to!!
She set up her office nook with her new desk so cute! Trust me, inside those drawers and door is OCD organization.
She has gotten started on doing murals in her bed nook :) No idea what she plans to do further...
The last time I took a picture in her room it was still a mess but now she has found nearly everything a home :) She'd like a pub table.  We'll see... (we have the stools from the bar counter at the old house, so she'd use those at the pub table)
