Last year while at camp Sophie's room got a new paint-job. This year while at camp Christian's room was gutted and reorganize.
Looking in from the hall.
To the right, both the above and below pics.
The above and below are to the left. That door is the closet. (which butts up to the entrance door)
The room is 10.5'x18.5' so that gives you an idea of the magnitude of this mess.
His drawers had pretty much nothing in them. It was all on his floor, all the time. 13 loads of laundry... I just did it all cuz who knows what was clean in all that mess.
There is going to be a rug that goes from the desk outward toward the center of the room. Then, a table is going to be put there so he can go from working at the computer, turn around the chair and work at a table. The rug will be so the floor doesn't get scratched with the chair moving around.
New organizer because his closet is pretty much worthless. Open the door and the left half has an inset bump-in which leaves only a foot deep of space. It goes WAY back on the right but once ya put something in there forget, you'll never see it again. In fact, there are things back there he put in when we moved 2y ago that he's not touched. I put all his Civil Air Patrol stuff in the closet.
Yes, the large piece with the 2 drawers on bottom and doors on top isn't coming back in. With the new organizer he doesn't need it anyway.
While I did not tell him I was doing all this before he left I did ask him what he thought about the idea of his mattress going straight on the floor. He said as long as he gets a Japanese style platform, which are basically like 2" off the floor is all. I said we can't afford that now but maybe in the future. So, we took out the captain's platform bed and put the mattress on the floor. We'll have to decorate around it on the walls ;)
Bookcase by the door.
Bookcase by where the table will be. It's got his language study books and multilanguage Bibles in it, as well as other stuff of course.
