Our New House

The house before we started in.  These photos are from the house listing. It was still accessible on Zillow LOL
The above is the craft room before the carpet was ripped up.

Obviously these are the kitchen. We took up I think 4 layers of old floor! Maybe 5, it was hard to tell...

Above is the livingroom prior to carpet being ripped up.
The above is our bedroom before ripped up carpet. I don't have any 'now' pics of our bedroom...
The furniture barely fits but that's okay, we only sleep in there anyway.
The above is the old recroom. It still looks like this since we've not ripped up this carpeting yet. BUT! You WILL see pics of new flooring by the door, down the steps and into the closet.  That was all carpet!  Much easier to keep hard surface clean by a door rather than carpet.
The above is Sophie's room before carpet being ripped up.  She now has a carpet rem in her room because try as we might we just could NOT get the padding tar spots off her floor in time to bring in furniture.  Turns out she'd rather have carpet anyway...

And, now for how it is currently. Not done by any means!!  But, I think much better anyway :)
We still need to put the mosaic tile back-splash and trim around the floor.
LOVE the plug in the island!!!!! The Keurig doesn't open up all the way under a cabinet, so it's got to be out.
There were bifold doors over the pantry but since they were painted the same cream as the walls I didn't want to repaint them. So, I did what I did at our old house, put up curtains :) I LOVE it!  These curtains had been over our old house sliding glass doors but they were too short, so I added a ruffle in red since I'm doing red accents in the kitchen. I'll be making curtains for the windows out of the same red fabric.
Steps going down in to the rec room. This had all been the rec room carpet and was in kinda sad shape from walking in the back door. SO happy to have it hard surface now.
From rec room toward the back door.
Closet in the rec room right by the back door.

View from rec room closet toward the kitchen.

Livingroom.  When painted it will be a medium sort of burnt orange.  I still can't believe that they had carpet over these beautiful floors!!!!! It was a TON of work but we're sooo happy with the results.  The padding leaves tar spots on the floor. It needs carefully scraped up and then floor cleaner. We put 3 coats of sealer on.  Above is view from hall by laundry room and below is view from kitchen.

Above is view from livingroom down hall. The open door to the left is the under stairs closet (litter box room for now). To the left is the laundry hall. Down by the mirror to the left is adult bedroom and to the left is the craft room.  Below is obviously the laundry hall. They had regular traditional machines.  That took up too much space as there is NO place for storage so we got stackables and bought a storage shelving closet.

Above is view of laundry ceiling. Why? Because I wanted to show the new ductwork.  They had a drop-ceiling in here that was the entire air return! No proper ductwork. Don't understand why they did that. Even the furnace guys who put this new ductwork in couldn't understand it! LOL So we took out the drop-ceiling, had ducting properly installed and put in the light. Will be the same blue as the kitchen... so will that bathroom eventually. We need to take off the wallpaper first...
Below is view from front door up stairs, into livingroom and down in to kitchen.  Yes, the stairs had carpeting too.  The orange will go up the stairs walls as well.

Above is Sophie's room.  She is IN LOVE with her office nook!!!  And she's going to be painting he rown mural around her bed nook.  This is supposed to be the master and her office and bed area had closet doors but she wanted to use the room differently. And besides, there's a 3rd closet in there anyway! (next to the door to her room)  Her room is now all organized but I had taken the pics before she got around to it.
Below is the view from Sophie's room door. To the left is the bathroom. Across the hall is Christian's room and down to the right is the stairs.

Above is Christian's mess, er, I mean room. And, it's still like this. He's not one for organization.
Below is their upstairs bathroom. Eventually it will all be TARDIS theme.

Out of place livingroom photo, view from stairs/front door.
Below is the craft room. Yup, messy right now.  I am typing from that chair in front of the computer.  Tom did install the shelves in the closet as I post, but there is still a mess in here since not everything fit, esp since that cabinet WILL house stuff. But, not until the room is painted (a sand color, same as what my bedroom will be but we've got to do a drywall repair first, when they put in the new electric box they popped some drywall above the box). So, I've got to live with the mess a while longer... SO happy to have a floor that doesn't need vacuumed!!!! Sewing thread bits and fabric bits are a pain when you have to vacuum. It'll be soooo nice to just be able to quickly sweep it up!

And, the outside. View from the back door toward the garage.  There is an apartment complex behind the garage.

That square out there is the base for Tom's shed.  The shed is now erected. Guess I need to take more pics :)
Below is the view from the garage toward the house.  Far left window is the craft room, the bathroom, then kitchen/dining area.

Above, that view out there is the middle school where the town fireworks are held!  We have an UNOBSTRUCTED view from our own yard!!!!!
Sophie has a perfect view of the church from her room. That flower/rock display is a waterfall. So pretty and soothing to hear.
We went from 1/3 acre to 1/4 acre. Not much of a difference.  Tom loves that rock out front. I don't know why. He comments on it to everyone! LOL  Eventually we'll be residing or painting.
That window upstairs is Sophie's room.
