Christian had surgery on his ear again

To recap his ear related issues:
7mo tubes inserted, which lasted about 1 1/2y
5yo tubes insterted and adenoids removed
After 4 1/2y the left tube fell out, leaving a hole that did not heal
After 5 years the right tube was still there (at 10,) so they did surgery to 1) remove that tube and 2) to do a fat-pack procedure on both eardrum holes.  It only worked in the left ear.
So, today they took some fascia from behind/above his right ear and grafted it to the giant hole.

He woke just fine from surgery.  He was feeling a bit queasy in the van, but once I told him to lay back he felt better.  He wanted to eat right away, so we did.  After the IV pain meds wore off he was in a LOT of pain tho.  He was crying and shaking and shivering in pain.  They told me to try regular acetaminophen before trying the Rx acet. with codeine.  That worked, so no hard drugs necessary.  Once it was in his system he felt a lot better and played some video games on wii and also on the computer.  He ate dinner fine too.

Here are some post-op pics.  Once he was feeling better he played some computer games, and kitty slept on his legs.  When he wasn't playing he had some drinks sitting there handy.

Sophie's 10th Birthday

Is my baby girl REALLY into double digit birthdays?!?!

What kind of kid wants basket weave sides, a green top and green and blue flowers for their birthday cake?  My daughter is a little odd sometimes... LOL!  Oh, and another direction for the cake that is hard to tell, the candles write the number '10'

From her Godparents: a drawer, and inside art supplies like paints, brushes, sketch pad, stickytack (on her list!! LOL) and stick-it notes

Not shown, air-dry clay.  Shown here are 3 CD's.  Two are Skillet and one also has a DVD.  The 3rd is a CD/DVD set of Kutless.

Book blanks! She really really really wanted some.  To the left on the table is the next book in the Betsy&Tacy series.

Those are shoes she's hugging... like I said sometimes she's a little odd! LOL
I just realized why she looks different as I'm uploading these, she's not wearing her glasses!! LOL!!!

And last, but certainly not least... wii CityFolk 'from brother'

Easter Pictures

As you can see, we had some very thoughtful coloring of eggs.  Most of them went into deviled eggs for Easter Dinner, the rest were egg salad sandwiches.

They got new music stands for Easter.  You can't see the pile between them on the floor, but they got V8Frusion drinks, a little candy/gum and a wii game.

We're goin' on vacation!

Actually, we're going on a few vacations this summer.

Hopefully this summer will be filled with
 St. Louis, MO
Use our free (reading program) tickets to Six Flags, visit the arch, zoo, museums, etc. This one will be just the kids and me, since Tom only has so many vacation days to take
Family Camp for the 3rd time

Possibly going back to MO with my sister-in-law, their kids, and my kids for some educational site-seeing

We're very excited!!!!  Hopefully things will go as planned.  I hope to have a new camera before we go too, so I can show off, er... I mean... no, I mean show off! LOL

Obviously I still haven't hooked up my new router...  I have one but I tried to hook it up and it didn't work.  I've been ignoring it sitting in the corner since, cuz I'm mad at it.

Getting my ducks in a row for next year's school year

I got Runkle Geography, "Welcome to the Wonderful World of Geography"
It looks great!!!  I questioned if anyone knew of a schedule for it, and someone came through!!  So, I even have that taken care of.  I'm so glad, I was afraid I'd have to figure out myself how to correlate the workbook with the textbook.  But, I just haven't even decided if Christian will use it next year, or 8th grade, or maybe even in 9th grade. It's a pretty hefty book, and many take if for 1/2 credit for high school.

I ordered a bunch of books for summer reading, all from YWAM Publishing.  I got a few 'Christain Heros Then and Now' biographies that we didn't have, along with a few series.  Christian especially loves series opposed to single story books.  The box came today, and it's going to kill Christian that I put them all in the closet until school is over in 5 1/2 weeks! LOL!!  He'll live... hee hee...

Summer reading, I usually have certain things I want the kids to read over the summer.  Sophie will be reading the Little House on the Prairie series since she's getting into American Westward settlement.  I'll probably add the CHTN books to her summer reading list too.  I don't know what I'll have Christian read yet, except the CHTN books too.

We're getting close to the end of the school year.  Hard to believe we've been homeschooling 3 years now!  It's hard, but so worth it.  Our homeschool group we've been part of since the beginning is coming to a close this year.  The leaders have kids entering high school, and won't have the time to lead.  So, we're beginning to look for another group to join.  One we're going to look in to is weekly, with actual classes.  I don't know if I want to commit to that tho...  We'll see...

I can't post pictures right now

My router quit, so I can only be online on the kids' school computer.  It's not associated with the Kodak software.

I'll post pictures of Sophie's birthday cake once I get hooked-up :)
